I have finally gotten around to publishing part of the finished Memory Archive on Vimeo and thought I would share it with you. So here is Penstowe Manor, a country house in Cornwall, which is now a holiday park Penstowe Manor from andrea oke on Vimeo.

I am looking at the next section of my animation which will involve the narrators hands moving whilst sharing memories with the viewer. I think there should be a social element involved so I have undertaken a study of hands playing cards. The images are fairly dark but once run though the animation they should look better.
I have finally posted my first video on Vimeo (it's a big day for me). Unfortunately the sound isn't good and iMovie really doesn't do the resolution any favours so I am going to get some advice on how to resolve those issues however, for now, here is my first test of 'Memory Archive! Memory Archive (test) from andrea oke on Vimeo. Had a really good day today teaching memory drawings to Severnside Art Club with my friend Clare Thatcher.
Quite a few people turned up and we had an enjoyable afternoon. Surprisingly I hadn't realised how much this workshop would be linked to my current animation project (more on that soon), its made me think of all those precious memories as pieces of social history that need to be saved. I don't know about a degree project I think this could be a life's work. I am hoping to get permission from Severnside Art Club to post a few pictures here soon. I was very kindly invited to Thornbury Art Club today to give a little talk about my practice and teach a memory drawing workshop with my friend and painter Clare Thatcher.
Thornbury Art Club were very welcoming and I feel we all learnt something from the day. Clare and I will be going to Severnside Art Club next month so we will see how Memory Drawings II is received |
